ABOUT THE PROJECT

A Voluptuary Life, a solo theater piece enlisting video and live performance, is an expose of the obsessive life of a fictional character, Smoky, an effete man who once fancied himself as a ‘stunning stud’ who could saunter into any room and have the man of his choice. And he did just that; almost every room, almost every day, for decades. Now, elderly, still sexually alive and without a partner or children, he finds himself recounting his life… daily, to practically anyone. Smoky has delusionally fashioned himself into a sexual anthropologist: a black, gay, imaginary protégé of Margaret Meade.
