NEW YORK, NY– MAP Fund—one of the longest-running, private funding sources for performing arts— announces the recipients of their Microgrants Program, through which all 2024 MAP grantees were invited to share an additional, unrestricted $1,000 stipend with an artist in their community. The Microgrants program amplifies the reach of MAP resources by expanding opportunities for innovative and under-funded artists to resource their communities.
Currently, each MAP grant comprises a total of $31,000: $25,000 for grantee project development, $5,000 for grantee unrestricted support, and a $1,000 microgrant for the grantee to redistribute to another artist in their community. The microgrants are unrestricted and have no reporting requirement: recipients are free to use the funds as they choose. The mechanism for distribution involves the MAP grantee naming another artist along with saying a bit about why they elected that person. While nominations can be anonymous, in most instances, the grantees decide to let their micrograntee know who nominated them.
