About the Project

Empathy School is a monologue with video and original music, performed on a bus ride through rural roads at night. Told from the driver's point of view, the piece layers one landscape onto another, memories onto a body, class consciousness on top of nostalgia. This is a moving wake for a romanticized past. The performance is written by Aaron Landsman, with video and sound by filmmaker and installation artist Brent Green, and inspired by nighttime in central Illinois.
