About the Grant

$35,000 to support The Sun Road (MAP 2008), a dance/film piece by choreographer Trey McIntyre and visual designer Sandra Woodall that premieres at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts as part of its Face of America series celebrating America’s national parks.

About the Project

Conceived by Mr. McIntyre for his ten-member company, the piece is a synthesis of potent, gravity-defying contemporary dance, breathtaking visual design, and haunting, explosive music that uses the rugged beauty, immense scale, and commanding presence of the Rocky Mountains at Glacier National Park to address the delicate balance of power between the environment and those within it.  In this work, the artists focus on ways to make visible, in movement and design, the imprint of this wild and complex ecosystem.
