About the Grant

$35,000 to support The Walter Project (MAP 2007), an on-going collaborative living art process between choreographer Ralph Lemon and Walter Carter, a 99-year-old black man who has lived his entire life in Mississippi, which explores the body as place and as vehicle for a cultural language and investigates the potential meanings of landscapes marked by the people who live within them.
