About the Grant

$30,000 to support The Los Alamos Project (MAP 2006), a new theater piece that sets out to tell the story of the anonymous, the men and women who created the town of Los Alamos and kept it running before, during, and after the development of the atomic bomb.

About the Project

Working from oral histories of the Los Alamos Laboratory’s workers, from the evolving consciousness on display in the writings and journals of quantum physicist David Bohm, from contemporary and ancient writings and practices of the Native populations in the area, and from new interviews with residents, the creators of The Los Alamos Project will attempt to capture, in a single theatrical event, one of the most cataclysmic and disturbing advances in the history of modern man.
